"Nunsense" with a book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin is presented
by five of the nineteen surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken.
Through a quirk of fate, their cook, Sister Julia, has managed to kill fifty-two
nuns in their order by accident with her tainted
vichyssoise. Through the divinely inspired creation of a greeting card company
they have raised enough money to pay for the burial
of all but four of the deceased sisters, whom they've had no choice but to store
in the convent's freezer. To raise the funds
to bury the remaining sisters, they stage a variety show in the Mount Saint
Helen's School auditorium. Participating in the project
are Mother Superior Mary Regina (Bess Taylor), a former circus performer who
cannot resist the spotlight; her competitive but
dignified rival, second-in-command Sister Mary Hubert (Tutti Perricone); Sister
Robert Anne (Lori Daly), a streetwise nun from
Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo (Alyn Beauchamp), a novice who is determined to be
the world's first ballerina nun; and wacky, childlike
Sister Mary Amnesia (Emily Caja), who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on
her head.
Directed by Marcus Fisk, Produced by Elizabeth Rice, with Musical Director
and Conductor Eric Dombrowski, and Coreographer Peggy Doerwaldt.
